Srinagar, Oct. 27 -- Jammu and Kashmir suffered massive damage to more than 15,000 houses and structures during recent floods and cloudbursts, with the government disbursing over Rs 52 crore in compensation so far, the Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction has informed the Assembly.
In a written reply to a question by MLA Nizam-ud-din Bhat, the department said both Jammu and Kashmir divisions witnessed heavy losses to private and public property, including houses, huts, cattle sheds, and essential infrastructure.
