J&K college admissions reverse declining trend, surge over 7 percent in first round: Sakina Itoo
Srinagar, June 2 -- Jammu and Kashmir's education and health minister, Sakina Itoo, announced on Tuesday a sharp turnaround in college admissions across the Union Territory, with enrolments rising over seven percent in the first round itself-reversing a declining trend seen in recent years.
"This year, due to the decisions taken to ease and simplify the admission process in government degree colleges across J&K, we have witnessed a significant increase in student enrolment," Itoo said in a post on X as per KNS.
According to data shared by the minister, admissions in the very first round reached 49,155 compared to 45,920 last year-an increase of over seven percent.
