Jammu, Aug. 27 -- The Indian Air Force (IAF) has undertaken extensive relief and rescue operations in response to the flooding caused by continuous rainfall in Jammu and northern Punjab. The operations are being carried out in coordination with the Indian Army, Border Security Force (BSF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and local administration.
The IAF deployed five Mi-17 helicopters and one Chinook helicopter from bases in the Northern Sector. These helicopters have been engaged in airlifting stranded personnel and delivering relief material. Additional helicopters and transport aircraft remain on standby to support ongoing efforts.
