Sopore, April 27 -- Dr Ishtiyaq Ahmad, Managing Director of Sara Medicate Sopore, on Monday appealed to chemists across north Kashmir to refrain from selling medicines, especially narcotic drugs, without a valid prescription, stating that such substances are being widely misused.

Speaking to news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) on the sidelines of a drug awareness rally, Dr Ishtiyaq Ahmad thanked the police especially SSP, ADC, and the Lieutenant Governor's office for launching the initiative.

Describing drug abuse as a "pandemic" now visible in every household, he said it is the responsibility of every citizen - regardless of status - to help end the menace.
