New Delhi, April 11 -- The Congress Working Committee (CWC) condemned the government's move to bring amendments to the Women's Reservation Bill, calling the process "unilateral and opaque" while accusing the ruling dispensation of using the proposed legislation as a political tool ahead of state polls.

Meeting at Indira Bhawan in the national capital, the CWC said that while the party has historically championed the 33 per cent quota and was the first to introduce and pass the Bill in the Rajya Sabha in 2013, the current government's approach raises "serious alarms."
