New Delhi, April 14 -- Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said Dr. B.R. Ambedkar had "staunchly opposed" Article 370 of the Constitution, asserting that the principal architect of the Indian Constitution prioritised the country's integrity over special provisions for Jammu and Kashmir.

On the occasion of Ambedkar's birth anniversary, Shah as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) said the visionary leader gave the nation a Constitution that ensures equal rights and opportunities for every citizen.

"He staunchly opposed Article 370 for the sake of the country's integrity," Shah said in a Hindi post on the microblogging platform.
