Srinagar, May 23 -- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday said the crackdown on narco-terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir will continue "mercilessly", as he disclosed that 797 FIRs have been registered and 894 drug smugglers arrested in the last 43 days.

Addressing the 'Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Padyatra' in Shopian, LG Sinha as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) said the movement against drug trafficking has turned into a powerful grassroots campaign across the Union Territory.

"The poison of drugs is diverting youth from the path of progress. Terrorist groups use proceeds from narcotics to buy weapons to spill the blood of ordinary Kashmiris," the Lt Governor said.
