25,000 MT of apples moved by rail last season
Jammu, Sept. 5 -- Share Tweet Share Srinagar, Sep 5 (KNS) : With Kashmir's fruit season approaching its peak, the Directorate of Horticulture Planning and Marketing on Saturday held a stakeholder consultation in Srinagar on expanding the use of railway freight and Roll-on-Roll-off (Ro-Ro) services to transport horticultural produce to markets across the country. Around 25,000 metric tonnes of apples were transported by rail from Kashmir during the previous season, according to the department, highlighting the growing role of the railway network as an alternative to road transportation.
