At least 17 people have been affected by a gastroenteritis outbreak in Chapran area of Aragam village in north Kashmir's Bandipora district, officials said on Friday, prompting the health department to issue a precautionary advisory.

District Epidemiologist Dr. Nabeel Ishtiyaq said the outbreak was first reported on August 20, with 17 residents developing symptoms of acute gastroenteritis. "Five patients have been admitted to District Hospital Bandipora for treatment, while others are being managed locally. The condition of all patients is stable," he said.
