UG admissions rise 16% in J&K govt colleges; 47,150 enrolled in Phase-I
Srinagar, Aug. 22 -- Undergraduate admissions in Government Degree Colleges across Jammu and Kashmir rose by around 16 per cent in Phase-I of the admission process for the 2026-27 academic session, with 47,150 students securing admission.
According to the Higher Education Department, the figure is up from around 40,800 admissions recorded during the corresponding phase last year. Of the total admissions, 35,040 students were admitted through direct allocation and 12,110 through the walk-in mode.
Admissions were carried out on the basis of Class 12 merit through the centralised admission portal, which enabled students from across the Union Territory to compete for seats and complete the admission process online.
