Srinagar, Aug. 24 -- Undergraduate admissions to Government Degree Colleges across Jammu and Kashmir increased by around 16 per cent during Phase-I of the admission process for the 2026-27 academic session, with 47,150 students securing admission, officials said on Sunday.
The figure is up from about 40,800 admissions recorded during the corresponding phase of the previous academic session.
According to the Higher Education Department, 35,040 students were admitted through direct allocation, while 12,110 secured admission through the walk-in mode.
