Ramban, Oct. 4 -- A tourist from West Bengal was killed and 56 persons, including nine police and CRPF personnel, were injured in two separate road accidents within half an hour on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Ramban district on Saturday, officials said.

The first accident took place at around 8:50 am near Maroog when a passenger bus bearing a West Bengal registration number and travelling from Srinagar to Jammu crashed into a hillside after the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle.

A woman passenger, identified as Jamuna, a resident of West Bengal, died in the accident, while 47 other passengers sustained injuries. The tourists were returning after a holiday in Kashmir, officials said.
