Jammu, April 5 -- The Department of Pharmacology at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME) organised a Journal Club presentation on "Recent Advances in the Pharmacological Management of Diabetes".

The presentation was delivered by Dr. Tasaduk Hussain Itoo, Fellow of the International Diabetes Federation.

During the session, Dr. Itoo spoke about the changing approach to diabetes care, highlighting the shift from a glucose-centric model to a broader cardio-renal-metabolic framework.

He explained important pathophysiological concepts such as the "Ominous Octet" and the "Egregious Eleven", which describe the multiple factors involved in the development and progression of diabetes mellitus.
