Srinaga, Aug. 21 -- The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday claimed to have trapped and arrested a junior building inspector of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) while allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000 in Srinagar.

According to an ACB statement, a complaint was received alleging that Gazala Akhter, Junior Building Inspector, SMC Ward No. 28, had demanded illegal gratification from a person in connection with the construction of two structures despite the complainant having obtained the required building permission from the competent authority.

The complainant alleged that the official was obstructing the construction work and causing delays to pressurise him into paying the demanded amount.
