Rusted mortar shell found in Poonch

Jammu, April 24 -- An old rusted mortar shell was found in a forward area in Mendhar sector of Poonch on Friday, officials said.

The mortar shell was noticed by villagers in an open field near Narol of Mendhar, they said.

The officials said the Army's Bomb Disposal Squad was called in and later the mortar shell was safely destroyed in a controlled explosion.
