JAMMU, April 1 -- Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary today informed the House that the road stretch at Brakpora-Kanganhal-Chitergul suffered extensive damage due to recent flash floods.

The flash floods had washed away portions of the road edges and adjoining areas, leading to erosion of the embankment and partial loss of the carriageway.

The Deputy Chief Minister stated this while replying to a Calling Attention motion moved by MLA Anantnag Peerzada Mohammad Syed in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today.

He said that the high-velocity floodwaters caused severe erosion along the road stretch, reducing the effective width and affecting the stability of the carriageway.
