Srinagar, Aug. 26 -- Holds public interaction at Boniyar and Uri
URI: In a major push to flood mitigation and infrastructure development in North Kashmir's Uri region, the Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology, Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, today laid the foundation stones for Erosion and Flood Protection Works at Boniyar and a comprehensive Water Supply Scheme (WSS) under AMRUT 2.0 in Uri town.
The Erosion and Flood Protection project, with an outlay of Rs.18.57 crore, is being implemented under the Comprehensive Flood Management Programme (CFMP).
The initiative aims to safeguard vulnerable stretches of the River Jhelum from RD 180 km to 225 km, where the riverbanks are most prone to erosion and flooding.
