Anantnag, May 4 -- Jammu & Kashmir Police on Sunday said it destroyed an illegally cultivated opium poppy crop in south Kashmir's Anantnag district as part of its ongoing anti-narcotics campaign.
According to a police statement, an illicit poppy crop spread over approximately four marlas of orchard land was detected and destroyed in the Larnoo area.
Police said that Police Station Larnoo received credible information that an individual, identified as Gh Ahmad Sheikh alias Ama Khoja, son of Mohd Ramzan Sheikh, a resident of Deesu, had allegedly cultivated opium poppy plants illegally in his orchard at Lovlupora village.
