India, Oct. 17 -- One-way movement of traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) was allowed on Friday morning following the collapse of a protection wall at Dhalwas in Ramban district, which had forced the temporary closure of one side of this vital road link.
Officials said a major portion of the protection wall near Dhalwas had collapsed, blocking the one side of the highway late Thursday and disrupting vehicular movement between Jammu and Srinagar.
News agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) reported that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the local administration immediately launched restoration work. One-way traffic was allowed to ensure the safe passage of vehicles.
