New Delhi, Aug. 15 -- India on Friday reiterated that there has been no change in its position on the Indus Waters Treaty, days after Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warned against any move to stop his country's water supply.

Addressing the weekly media briefing, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India's stand on the treaty remains unchanged.

"There is no change in the way we think. Our position on the treaty is clear," Jaiswal said.

India had placed the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance following the April 2025 terror attack in Pahalgam. The government has since maintained that the treaty cannot return to operation in its existing form unless Pakistan takes credible and irreversible steps t...
