Srinagar, May 19 -- National Conference leader and former high court judge Hasnain Masoodi on Monday asked President Draupadi Murmu to give representation to Jammu and Kashmir on the Supreme Court's expanded bench strength.

Masoodi, who was a member of the Lok Sabha from 2019 to 2024, wrote a letter to the President to this effect as well.

"The increase in the number of judges of the Supreme Court by the Hon'ble President of India is a welcome step. As J&K has remained unrepresented in the highest constitutional court of the country since 2017, I request @rashtrapatibhvn to give representation to J&K in the Supreme Court," Masoodi, an MLA in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly, said in a post on X.
