Srinagar, Aug. 18 -- The body of a minor girl was discovered along the Batsar-Sehpora road in the central Kashmir district of Ganderbal on Sunday, officials confirmed.

Police said that a team was immediately dispatched to the scene after receiving information about the incident. "The area was cordoned off for investigation," adding, the relevant authorities have taken cognizance of the matter, and an investigation is underway.

The victim was a student of class 7.

As per family sources, the child had left her home around 10:00 AM with her elder sister to collect vegetables. The location of the incident was barely 300 meters from their residence in Batsar, Sehpora Ganderbal.
