Jammu, March 27 -- The newly established 243-bedded Maternal and Child Care (MCC) facility at SMGS Hospital has significantly strengthened neonatal and perinatology services in the Jammu region, Health and Medical Education Minister Sakeena Itoo informed the Legislative Assembly on Friday.

Replying to a question by legislator Yudhvir Sethi during Question Hour of the Budget Session 2026, the Minister said the facility has improved newborn care and maternal health services while also reducing waiting time for planned surgeries.
