JAMMU, Aug. 24 -- Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Tariq Hameed Karra on Monday strongly opposed the recent hike in electricity tariffs, describing it as unjust and burdensome for consumers across the Union Territory.
In a statement, Karra said the increase comes at a time when households are already grappling with rising prices and economic pressures, and argued that the government should have provided relief rather than increasing electricity charges.
"People of J&K were expecting relief in electricity bills, not an increase in per-unit tariffs. For an ordinary household, every additional rupee on the power bill directly impacts the family budget," he said, terming the decision insensitive to the hardships ...
