Srinagar, Aug. 10 -- The Meteorological Department (MeT) has forecast a prolonged spell of rain and thundershowers across Jammu and Kashmir from August 9 to 19, with a warning of heavy rainfall, flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.

According to MeT, most places in the Union Territory are likely to receive light to moderate rain and thundershowers from August 9 to 11. A few districts in the Jammu division may witness heavy to very heavy rainfall, while isolated places in Kashmir could experience brief but intense showers. Peak weather activity is expected on August 11.
