Srinagar, Sept. 20 -- The Jammu and Kashmir Government has brought landlord-tenant relations under a formal regulatory framework through the J&K Tenancy Rules, 2026, which require tenancy agreements to be reported to the designated Rent Authority within two months of execution.
The rules, notified on July 2 this year following the commencement of the Jammu and Kashmir Tenancy Act, 2025, also provide for a digital system to manage tenancy-related applications, records and services.
