Jammu, Feb. 13 -- The Jammu and Kashmir Government has proposed a Rs.1,000-crore package for permanent restoration of roads damaged by last year's flash floods and heavy rains, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary told the Assembly on Thursday, announcing a wider infrastructure push that also includes elevated corridors to ease traffic congestion in Srinagar and Jammu.
Replying while winding up the discussion on departmental grants, Choudhary said the proposal has been submitted to the Finance Department under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI), with priority works already initiated and bridge and highway restoration underway across the Union Territory.
