J&K raises retirement age of judicial officers to 62
SRINAGAR, Oct. 7 -- The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved the enhancement of the retirement age of judicial officers from 60 to 62 years, subject to an assessment by the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
According to an order issued by the Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, the decision follows a recommendation made by the Full Court of the High Court on August 10, 2026.
The order states that judicial officers will be eligible to continue in service beyond the age of 60 only after the High Court assesses their fitness, eligibility, suitability, performance and continued utility.
