J&K may see first major rain, snowfall spell of season from Oct 8
Srinagar, Oct. 1 -- Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness the season's first significant spell of rain and snowfall between October 8 and 11 under the influence of a strong Western Disturbance, according to a weather forecast.
The forecast said weather conditions are expected to remain largely dry across the Union Territory until October 5, with a possible change from October 8. Snowfall is expected mainly over higher reaches, while rain may occur in plains and lower-lying areas.
However, it noted that the assessment is preliminary and the timing and intensity of the weather system could change as it approaches the region.
