Srinagar, Aug. 1 -- The Jammu and Kashmir Tribal Affairs Department has directed all Deputy Commissioners to expedite the receipt, verification and settlement of claims under the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006.
The directions have been issued through a government circular aimed at ensuring the timely completion of the statutory process for recognition of forest rights through the three-tier mechanism prescribed under the Act.
The department has asked all districts to complete the verification and settlement of claims under the Forest Rights Act (FRA) and submit completion certificates after the process is concluded.
