J&K approves free public transport for differently-abled persons
SRINAGAR, Sept. 17 -- The Jammu and Kashmir government has approved free travel for differently-abled persons on public transport services operated by the Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) and e-buses run by the Srinagar and Jammu Smart City projects.
The decision implements a budget announcement made by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during the presentation of the 2026-27 Budget in March.
According to the government, the facility will be available on JKRTC buses as well as e-buses operated by Jammu Smart City Limited and Srinagar Smart City Limited.
