Uri, March 15 -- Security forces foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of north Kashmir's Baramulla district, eliminating a terrorist during an overnight operation, officials said on Sunday.
According to official sources, acting on specific intelligence input from the Jammu and Kashmir Police about a possible infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched on the intervening night of March 14 and 15 in the general area of Buchhar in Uri.
Officials said alert troops noticed suspicious movement of a terrorist hiding in thick vegetation. The ambush party readjusted its position and challenged the suspect, who opened indiscriminate fire on the security forces.
