I&FC issues flood advisory as IMD forecasts heavy rain in South Kashmir
Srinagar, July 21 -- The Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Department has issued a flood advisory after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast a spell of intense rainfall over the Jhelum Basin, warning of the possibility of flash floods and a rapid rise in water levels.
According to an advisory issued by the Office of the Chief Engineer, I&FC Kashmir, the IMD has forecast a "significantly strong spell of rainfall" over the Jhelum Basin during the morning of July 21.
The advisory said South Kashmir, particularly the districts of Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian, is likely to receive 50-100 mm of rainfall. Another spell of lower-intensity rainfall is expected during the morning of July 22.
