HUDD warns against use of electric shock devices on stray dogs
Srinagar, Aug. 22 -- The Housing and Urban Development Department (HUDD) has warned against the sale and use of electric shock devices for handling stray dogs, saying such practices violate animal welfare laws and may also attract provisions of the Arms Act.
In a statement, the department said it had taken serious note of an electrically operated device marketed as a "Dog Stick" and advertised for protection against dogs and wild animals. The product is reportedly being advertised by a Pulwama-based firm.
