Srinagar, Jan. 15 -- Girls performed better than boys in the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education's class 10 and 12 examinations, officials said after the results were declared on Wednesday.
About 85 percent of students passed class 10 examinations, while the percentage stood at 84 for class 12.
The examinations were held in October-November last year, they said.
A total of 85.03 percent of the 94,845 students passed the class 10 examinations - among whom 47,736 were boys, and 47,109 were girls.
The result showed that girls were marginally ahead as 40,408 girls (85.78 percent) and 40,242 (84.30 percent) boys qualified the exam.
A total of 16,550 students secured grade A1, followed by 14,398 students who received A2.
