Srinagar, April 19 -- On the occasion of World Heritage Day, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Saturday called for the protection and promotion of Jammu and Kashmir's rich cultural legacy, urging people to not only visit heritage sites but also understand their historical and cultural significance.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters, Nawa-e-Subha, Abdullah said Jammu and Kashmir has long remained a vibrant centre of cultural heritage and a meeting point of great civilisations because of its proximity to the ancient Silk Road.
He said this confluence of cultures and artistic traditions has created a unique legacy of art, craft and architecture that is yet to receive the global recognition it deserves.
