Jammu, March 12 -- Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Wednesday ordered the deactivation of e-challan portals of five stone crusher units in Rajouri district after serious violations related to riverbed mining were detected during a surprise inspection.

Acting against illegal mining activities, the deputy chief minister inspected several stone crusher units in Chityari and adjoining areas of the district to ensure that operations were being carried out in accordance with the prescribed rules and regulations, an official spokesman said.

Choudhary was accompanied by the joint director of the Geology and Mining Department, Jammu, and other senior officers during the inspection.
