Srinagar, June 9 -- Police in Anantnag have detained a "habitual drug offender" under the provisions of the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act.

The detained individual has been identified as Aurangzaib Bhat, son of Mohammad Akbar Bhat, resident of Arwani Bijbehara, who police said has been repeatedly involved in narcotics-related offences and was found to be actively engaged in illicit drug trafficking activities despite previous legal action.

The accused is involved in multiple NDPS cases registered at Police Station Bijbehara, including FIR No. 64/2013 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act, FIR No. 75/2025 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act, and FIR No. 43/2026 under Sections 8/21 NDPS Act, polic...
