Kulgam, April 10 -- Authorities on Friday shifted classes for students in upper Nandimarg in Kulgam after a video showing schoolchildren crossing a flowing stream to reach school surfaced on social media.
Acting on the directions of the Education Minister, the Chief Education Officer of Kulgam visited the area to assess the situation.
During the visit, the officer found that around 90 students from the upper belt of Nandimarg had to cross the stream every day due to the absence of a bridge in order to attend school.
Taking note of the safety concerns, the authorities decided to shift classes for students of 9th and 10th standard to a newly constructed double-storey school building located in the upper area of Nandimarg, where most of the...
