Jammu, July 27 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas across Jammu and Kashmir by organising programmes at memorials and public places to pay tribute to soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil War.
BJP J&K president and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma, accompanied by MLA Ch Vikram Randhawa and former councillor Surjit Pappu Choudhary, felicitated Honorary Subedar Major Kamal Singh for his role during the Kargil conflict.
According to the party, Kamal Singh, son of Subedar Parmatam Singh of the 13th Battalion, Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, was part of the assault team that captured the strategically important Tololing Peak during operations on June 12-13, 1999, and later led the attacking team...
