Srinagar, Nov. 8 -- The Indian Army on Saturday commemorated the 79th anniversary of the Battle of Shalateng - a defining moment in the 1947-48 Indo-Pak War - with a solemn ceremony at the Shalateng Garrison in Srinagar.
The event paid tribute to the valiant soldiers and local civilians whose courage and sacrifice safeguarded Srinagar from advancing Pakistani raiders in November 1947.
