SRINAGAR, July 13 -- A 40-year-old Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrim was found dead inside a bus parked outside the Yatra Niwas at Pantha Chowk in Srinagar on Sunday, officials said.

The deceased was identified as Himat Batti alias Joga Singh, a resident of Punjab.

According to officials, the pilgrim was found unconscious inside the parked bus by fellow yatris and staff. He was shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated legal proceedings.

The cause of death is being ascertained, and further investigation is underway. (GNS)
