NEW DELHI, Sept. 21 -- Domestic liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) consumers will be required to complete Aadhaar-based biometric authentication to continue receiving subsidised LPG refills from October 1, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has announced.

According to the ministry, 27.43 crore active domestic LPG consumers, accounting for 89.9 per cent of the total consumer base, had completed biometric Aadhaar authentication as of September 19. Consumers who have already completed the process will not be required to undergo authentication again.
