India, Oct. 17 -- Stating that more than 1,614 Jammu and Kashmir Policemen laid down their lives during the past three decades while fighting "Pakistan and its proxies" in the Union Territory, Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat, on Thursday reiterated commitment of the force to safeguard peace and stability in the region.

Addressing the closing ceremony of the 10th All India Police Games Judo Cluster at Indoor Stadium here, DGP Prabhat, according to the news agency KNO, said, "Supreme sacrifices of police martyrs stand as a testimony to the unwavering courage and commitment of the J&K Police."
