Srinagar, March 27 -- Police on Friday said that 12 vehicles were seized in Ganderbal and Shopian districts during a crackdown on illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
According to a police spokesperson, in Ganderbal, nine tractors were seized within the jurisdictions of Police Station Kangan and Police Post Nagbal for extracting and transporting minerals without valid authorization. The vehicles were seized on the spot, and the matter was taken up with the Geology and Mining Department, which imposed fines under relevant provisions of law.
Similarly, in Shopian, a police team seized two dumpers and an L&T machine involved in unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals from Rambiara Nallah. In this regard, a case (...
