On August 30, 2025, Prime Minister Ishiba visited Miyagi Prefecture with H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India.
On the way to Miyagi Prefecture, the two leaders received a send-off at Tokyo Station from Indian train drivers who are undergoing training at East Japan Railway Company, and posed for a commemorative photograph. After boarding the Tohoku Shinkansen, the two leaders observed the experimental rolling stock "ALFA-X" while it was stationed at Omiya Station in Saitama Prefecture, and also observed the Tohoku Shinkansen itself and exchanged views.
