TOKYO, Oct. 17 -- Joint Staff issued the following press release:
From A.M. to P.M., Friday, October 10, 2025, JASDF spotted aircraft
over the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk.
The aircraft was:
- IL-20 intelligence gathering aircraft x 1
The Russian IL-20 intelligence gathering aircraft is different from ones
previously identified by JASDF, and this is the first time JASDF has
confirmed this aircraft.
JASDF fighters conducted scramble to monitor the activity of this
aircraft.
