INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR BIODIVERSITY (MAY 22)

TOKYO, May 12 -- Ministry of the Environment issued the following news:

International Day for Biodiversity (May 22) 1. May 22 is the International Day for Biodiversity (IDB) sanctioned by the United Nations, and events to popularize and raise awareness among the public under the international theme are held throughout the world.



2. The Ministry of the Environment will co-organize an international symposium on connection of local action to global targets through a whole-of-society approach "Acting Locally for Global Impact - Towards A World in Harmony with Nature through Collective Action" at the United Nations University Headquarters in Tokyo jointly with UNU-IAS * and other organizations.
