Lesotho, Dec. 17 -- The festive season is one of the busiest times of the year for shoppers, travellers and businesses. Streets, malls and markets are full as people move around to buy food, gifts and other holiday needs. This week, clear trends are emerging in transport, food prices, travel demand and consumer behaviour.

Transport fees on the rise

Road travel increases sharply during the festive period. Many people travel using either private or public transport, but public transport records the biggest boom.

A 4+1 taxi driver, Paramente Rasehlooho, said business is very good at this time of the year. People travel from South Africa, move from Maseru to their home villages, or go to town to buy festive groceries and gifts. As a result...
