Lesotho, March 18 -- Pontsho Makatile, an 18-year-old rising cycling star from Lesotho, continues to impress on both mountain and road bikes. She recently secured a place in the Top 10 at the UCI SA Cup Series race in Cape Town, while her teammate Tumelo Makae finished in 26th position.
Makatile, who is also an Olympic Scholarship holder, is now working towards her long-term dream of competing at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Her achievements in cycling continue to grow. She previously won the women's race at the annual Thota Moli Cycling Road Race, completing the 60km distance in a time of 1:48:05. She also won the Elite U23 Women MTB National Cup, further proving her talent in the sport.
